LAND USE

Led by Board members Eric Munsing and Dennis Richards, the DTNA Land Use Committee focuses on topics surrounding housing, city planning & zoning, historic preservation, and neighborhood greening. We act as a conduit for neighborhood feedback to City departments (Planning, DPW,) and a liaison between developers and the community.

The Committee's priorities for 2026:

1.Historic Preservation: We are advocating for the speedy completion of SF Survey for our neighborhood so that we can identify and review a list of contributing properties for preservation through landmarking or through the elevation of the Duboce Triangle Historic District to the state/national Register of Historic Places.

2.Commercial spaces: We work to fill vacant spaces with businesses that will benefit the community; this means aiding in the enforcement of the commercial vacancy tax, partnering with Castro Merchants Association to learn of new businesses and advocate for grants in the neighborhood, and advocating when Conditional Use Authorization permits would benefit our neighborhood.

JOIN US!!!!  We meet every second Monday, 7-8PM, at the Chase Bank at 2112 15th St (enter the Community Meeting Room at the right side of the parking lot). Note: The January 2026 meeting will be January 20th, not Jan 12th. Email landuse@dtna.org to learn more and get involved.

ON DUBOCE TRIANGLE'S HISTORIC DISTRICT STATUS

In 2019, DTNA began a project to conduct a historic survey of the entire neighborhood, with the intent to gain formal recognition of our historic neighborhood on the California Register of Historic Resources.  VerPlanck Historic Preservation Consulting was engaged to conduct the survey work and develop a Duboce Triangle Historic Context Statement (HCS) which was completed in February 2022 and submitted to the City Planning Department.  In December, 2022, the San Francisco Historic Preservation Commission accepted and adopted the HCS and it is now official.  DTNA now plans to apply for state and federal recognition of the historic resources which were identified in the HCS.  For more information see Historic District FAQ's.
